Description
Common crane (Grus grus) portrait oil painting, original artwork (not a print).
The artwork is made with professional oils with a multi layering technique in many sessions.
A lone common crane stands in the vast expanse of a harvested field, its elegant form silhouetted against the bare trees of early spring. The landscape is subdued, awaiting the return of life, much like the crane itself—a fleeting visitor, rarely seen but always unforgettable. Its haunting call never fails to stir something deep within me, a yearning both ancient and unspoken. And when I am lucky enough to witness its graceful dance at the field’s edge, my heart is filled with admiration.
Encounters with cranes are rare, yet each one feels like a gift. This painting was born from a desire to capture their noble posture, the delicate balance of their ascetic colors, and the quiet dignity they exude. In Latvian culture, the crane is more than just a bird—it is a symbol of endurance, wisdom, and the rhythm of the land itself. Few creatures embody the spirit of this place as purely as the crane, its presence a timeless echo in the fields of home.
The artwork is signed and varnished, the side edges are painted. Please note that this painting does not need a frame, it can be hung by the edge but surely the frame will accomplish its look. If you’d like me to take care of the framing process, please let me know.
Size of the painting 50×70 cm (19.6 x 27.5 in).
