Artist Statement

  • Marta Gotlība is a Latvian artist specializing in detailed illustrations and oil paintings, with a focus on birds, wildlife, and botanical subjects. Using coloured pencils in a multi-layering technique and oils in the classical painting tradition, she captures the essence and character of her subjects with precision and depth. Marta’s work emphasizes realism while preserving the emotional presence of nature’s inhabitants.
  • The artist has been collaborating with the Latvian Ornithological Society for many years, creating bird illustrations for the organization’s needs and using art to help foster public interest in birds and bird conservation.
