Marta Gotlība,
inspired by nature

her art weaves connections between people and the natural world,
creating meaningful connections between people and the environment.
Marta Gotlība (b. 1982) is from Rāmava, Latvia. Gotlība’s main medium is coloured pencils and the main subject of interest – birds’ portraits. Due to personal reasons, the artist was away from art for many years and returned to drawing at the end of 2016. “Surprisingly, birds captured my interest during this period, despite no apparent reason. I found them intriguing to observe, and the more I watched them, the more fascinated I became. Since my return to art, my primary medium has been colored pencils. Although I’ve always been intrigued by oil color paintings, in recent years, I’ve been practicing with oils. While my main focus remains on birds, I occasionally take on challenges in illustrating pets or botanical objects.” Since 2022 Gotlība has returned to oil medium and through regular workshops and tuition with of distinguished Latvian artists she has improved her technical skills and knowledge. Commissions on oil paintings are not currently accepted, but the latest painting are offered for sale here in the website’s shop section.
